Answer: How can I be more creative?
Yes, everyone is able to ignite creativity within themselves.
It's important to remember, though, that creativity is not limited to the arts (painting, drawing, sculpting, etc). You can see creativity in science, business, and management through finding new paths, strategies or theories. Creativity is not only defined by the stroke of a brush and you may find that in other aspects you are already naturally creative.
If you feel that you are not creative in a particular field that you'd like to be, then turn it into a discipline and treat it as such - practice and application.
- Find highly regarded creative individuals and study them and their methods. Try out a few of their methods yourself until you find something that fits (or discover your own).
- When faced with a challenge (at work or self imposed), don't stop at your first answer and create 10 more ways (forcing yourself to innovate)
- Daily small practice (like the 3 Use Trick)
- Read on the subject of creativity and work through some challenges to exercise that part of your brain (Neville Clemens above mentioned the book 'The Artist's Way'
- Hang out with people in your circle that you find creative. You'll find that it can be infectious
- Go to sites like Pinterest or Behance and Be Inspired
- Never be afraid to try
Though effort and training may not turn you into the next Salvador Dali or Steve Jobs, you can certainly expand your creative capacity and apply that to any field you'd like to.
